Old west legends, world class skiing, and perfect summer's for pickleball and other outdoor activities... that's Steamboat. The 2021 Steamboat Classic was an amazing tournament in the mountains. Over 300 athletes enjoyed some great competition, with hot air balloons gliding over the courts nearly every morning. What a sight and what a tourney!

Having the world number one player, Ben Johns and top player, Dekel Bar around the courts added to the special experience at this year's Steamboat Classic. Ben and Dekel;s pre-tournament clinics were fantastic preludes to what was ahead. Ben even reffed a few games! Great guys and much appreciated ambassadors for Rocky Mountain Pickleball, the Steamboat Classic, and pickleball. A huge thanks to them!

Our host venue was again the beautiful Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Center. The tournament used the Center's awesome eight, dedicated outdoor courts, and an additional four converted courts.

We're excited about the major expansion of pickleball courts at the Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Center. Construction of 12 new dedicated courts will begin the spring of 2022. Additionally, conversion of two existing tennis courts will provide another 8 courts. Steamboat is about to become the premier pickleball venue in the entire mountain region!

The downside is due to the court construction scheduled during the 2022 summer months, our Steamboat tournament will be postponed until 2023.

We can't wait to see those new courts and welcome everyone to the newly named Steamboat Open next summer. We know it will be worth the wait!
