Home to the 2019 Rocky Mountain Pickleball Open and next summer's pro event, the 2020 Rocky Mountain Pickleball Championships, this outstanding complex is recognized as Colorado's largest and most desirable pickleball venue. With 24 newly resurfaced, dedicated courts, along with the Championships' complimenting spectator areas, Apex will be the ideal location for Colorado's premier professional pickleball tournament. 

Expanded spectator seating and tables, adjacent to the center/pro court and a mic'd referee to announce scores, will enhance the tournament experience for spectators and players alike.

Pro Players will also appreciate exclusive amenities, including a dedicated lounge area, with snacks and match/court announcements inside. 

Location: The Apex Pickleball Complex is located at 11706 West 82nd Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80005. The city of Arvada and Apex are located approximately 30 minutes northwest of downtown Denver, using I-25 North and I-70 West. Arriving from Denver International Airport, the complex is approximately a 50 minute drive, heading west on I-70. We highly recommend using any of the map apps to ensure your travel time is as short as possible.

Parking: There will be limited on-site and street parking available at the venue. Ride-sharing, if an option, is always recommended. RMPC is working with our hotel partner, OMNI Resorts, regarding a shuttle service from the resort to the courts. However, this has not yet been confirmed. RMP will update this site as the option is further explored.  

On-site Information & Emergency Services: The Player Check-in Desk will also serve as the information center and Medical Assistance location. The tent will be centrally located and easily accessed. 

Vendor Village: Tournament sponsors and vendors will have locations throughout the tournament area. 

Accommodations: RMP is pleased to partner with the OMNI Interlocken Resort as our featured tournament hotel. Located approximately 15 minutes from the Apex courts, this beautiful 4 star resort offers spacious rooms, mountain views and first class amenities. Tournament guests will receive special room rates, along with other benefits, including complimentary breakfast, and discounts at the resort's, golf course, spa and restaurant.   

Kick Off Party: Participants and spectators are invited to join us for an evening of food and drink, meeting fellow competitors, referees, sponsors, and fans. The optional, add-on get-together will take place at the OMNI Resort and feature a delicious small plate menu. Full bar will also be available. The event location boasts views of the Rocky Mountains, while overlooking the resort's beautiful pools and golf course. Things to do around Denver: The Mile High City's huge variety of attractions, near-by destinations and the beauty of the Rocky Mountains in our back yard make creating a complete list nearly impossible. From the nationally acclaimed breweries to the north, to the parks, museums and restaurants in downtown Denver, and of course our mountain resorts... only a short drive west. Pre-qualification (pre-lottery) opportunity for early Nationals registration is limited to the Pro division Gold Medalists only.)

Play Format: Double Elimination / Winners brackets and Gold medal rounds best of 3 games; Opportunity brackets 1-15, win by 2. 

Age/Skill Brackets: Age Groups 12+, 35+, 50+, 65+ (Players age as of 12/31/2020) Skill Levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0+ Open Pro

Events: All bracket levels will include competition in Singles (Ladies and Men's), Doubles (Ladies and Men's), and Mixed Doubles.

Medal / Awards: Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place from each skill bracket played. Rocky Mountain Pickleball is pleased to again be presenting custom cast medals to our winning teams. Cash prices will be awarded in the Pro events for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Payments & Waivers: All payments and waivers MUST be paid and signed when registering. 

Cancellations | Refunds: This is a NO-REFUND tournament. Following registration, we are sorry however no refunds will be provided. 

 Referees: As a USAPA/IFP (MMO*) Sanctioned Tournament, referees will be officiating most matches, including all medal rounds. Referees will adhere to all USAPA Rules and guidelines. Players are invited to serve as referees and also attend one of the planned referee training sessions prior to the tournament date. The session dates will be posted here following confirmation of the instructors and locations. The training sessions will include basic instructions and guidelines, while also reviewing  USAPA rules and guidelines.

(*RMP anticipates re-designation of the tournament to regular USAPA sanctioning pending confirmation of a sufficient number of referees committing to officiating at the event. This update is anticipated by March 30, 2020.)

Player Warmup: Courts will be available each day prior to beginning of match play and as available throughout each day. Tournament play will begin at 8:00 AM. Depending upon tournament scheduling and court availability, RMP is working to ensure a limited number of practice courts will be available for player warmup. Players will be afforded pre-match warmup time using typical USAPA referred guidelines.

Pro Player Warmup: There will be a dedicated warmup court available exclusively to registered pro players throughout each of the tournament days. Player credentials will be required for access.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinama (8905 Westminster Boulevard, Westminster 80031 / 303.731.3330) - If you feel like catching dinner and a movie after your matches, Alamo is a great choice. Combining at-your-seat dining, along with current feature films, you’ll enjoy this unique movie experience. Alamo’s Westminster location is about a ten minute drive from the Apex courts. OMNI Interlocken Resort (500 Interlocken Boulevard, Broomfield, CO 80021) - The Championships’ accommodations partner, this luxurious 4 star resort offers day passes to those players not staying at the hotel. The resort’s amenities include two outdoor pools with bar/food service, a spa, four restaurants, a fitness center, golf driving range, and 27 holes of championship golf with 400 feet of elevation changes. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre (18300 West Alameda Parkway, Morrison, CO 80465) - This magnificient natural wonder is open year-round and free to explore from sunrise to 5PM every day. The incredible red rock formations and stunning amphitheatre carved into them are truly classic Colorado. A self-suided tour of the park typicaly takes approximately an hour or so, but you’ll likely spend at least another hour taking photos and admiring the views. The park is located approximately 25 minutes from the Apex courts. 

Boulder, CO - Just a short 30 minute drive from the Apex courts, the creative community of of Boulder is known for it’s cool restaurants, over 21 craft breweries and a laid-back lifestyle. Tucked into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder is a unique town and well worth a visit after your day’s matches. 

Golden, CO - One of Colorado’s former gold rush towns, located about 20 minutes from the Apex courts at the foothills of the Rockies. Home to the Coors brewery and Colorado School of Mines, the town has preserved it’s vintage architecture, while also incorporating new contemporary structures along Main Street. You’ll enjoy watching the kayakers and tubers floating down Clear Creek, which runs right through town. In addition to enjoying Golden’s restaurants and bars, there’s the Colorado Railroad Museum and loads of hiking and running trails. A sweet little town!

Flatirons Mall (1 W Flatiron Crossing Dr, Broomfield, CO 80021) - Forgot something or just need to shop? Flatirons Mall is a beautiful Colorado mall located about 15 minutes from the Apex courts. With over 200 specialty shops and restaurants, the mall offers a wide variety of shopping experiences. The mall closes daily at 9:00PM, so you’ll have enough time to check it out after your matches.

Little Man Ice Cream (2620 16th Street, Denver, CO) - Perfect for topping off a day after your match play. First you'll notice the huge silver milk jug, then you'll likely see the lines of people waiting for some of the famous ice cream. Really a treat and worth the wait! Located a short distance from downtown Denver. 

Steve's Snapping Dogs (3525 East Colfax, Denver, CO) - Not just any hot dog, this iconic restaurant has been around for years. There's a list of toppings and varieties to suit everyone's taste. Steve's even has it's own brew, Steve's Snappin Ale with strong hints of cherry and pepper... a refreshing, yet hot brew you'll have to try. Steve's has two locations: the original on East Colfax and the other at Denver International Airport.

Town of Breckenridge - One of Colorado's special mountain towns and proposed location of a future tournament in Rocky Mountain Pickleball Series, The Breckenridge Pickleball Classic. Aspen - This famous little mountain town is located at one end of the Roaring Fork Valley. It's a special place, with loads of stories from the distant and not so distant past. Driving time from Apex is about 3 hours or so, with the summertime option of navigating Independence Pass. Check out lodging options at: https://www.stayaspensnowmass.com . Aspen is also planned to be our host city for the planned Aspen Pickleball Open. Dates, courts and permits are currently in the planning stages. Steamboat Springs - Another of Colorado's mountain resorts, Steamboat perhaps more than most others has maintained and takes pride in its cowboy roots. The town offers a wonderful blend of the old west and today's contemporary architecture. You can find lodging options at https://www.steamboat.com Rocky Mountain Pickleball again plans to include the Steamboat Classic as part of the Rocky Mountain Pickleball Series.
